The running of the cows-no bull!

Today's hike is from Au to Damuls; we catch the bus to Au and note that there is some kind of event happening in the main street involving men in leather pants and police-maybe we chanced upon the Au Gay Mardi Gras?
But no such luck, it turns out to be the annual Almabtrieb where cows are brought down to the lower pastures. We wait patiently and then we here what is either the impending apocalypse or a thousand cow bells; fortunately it is the latter and we are greeted by the sight of hundreds of fearsome Austrian cows stampeding down the road with blood in their eyes. We just manage to fight them off though some of our group may have sustained serious bovine injuries.

Run for your lives!

Those with only minor injuries set off on today's hike. This turns out to be mostly uphill with the usual drab scenery.

We arrive back at our lodgings exhausted and ready for our evening's repast.
